Winter Coat Love

Over the next few months the most worn and most seen item of clothing that you own becomes a coat or coats if you're a little obsessed with them like me! So it's no wonder that we end up searching for hours and hours looking for the perfect one. It can seem like a pretty scary task, you need to decide what fit and what shape you're looking for, what kind of material, do you want it to be long, short, mid length? The questions really could go on and on and on but you get what I mean. I feel we're past the stage in our life where our coats can only be practical and waterproof, now is the time to branch out and invest in something timeless, classic, a dressier coat. One that will stay with you for years to come and can be worn to dress up a more casual outfit, or to be worn when you're off to a special event and you can't really wear your fur trim hooded collar, pleather sleeved parka on top of your floor length dress and heels (I'm clearly envisioning some kind of Christmas soiree here- thanks brain, you can't just stop thinking about Christmas for one day can you!!).

Don't get me wrong, I think everyone needs a good waterproof coat and I'm not talking about a festival rain mac poncho thing (great for the summer showers but not so much for battling torrential ran pour and potentially snow), I mean a great durable weather resistant coat. My top picks would be pretty much anything from The North Face or Barbour. Both are definitely on the pricier side of things but you know that they will last you for years and will see you through perfectly. There are less expensive options out there from places like Marks & Spencer, Mountain Warehouse, John Lewis and generally any outdoors clothing shops. All have great choices for sturdy waterproof coats but I just think that something from The North Face or Barbour would add that timeless vibe to the coat and added durability becuase they are tried and tested well known brands who have been around for yonks!

Putting the sensible waterproof coats aside, lets move on to the more exciting coats!

I've been (manically) browsing everywhere online at new coat collections and let me tell you, they are beautiful! Everywhere seems to be stepping up their coat game this year and I couldn't be happier. It really seems like there's something for everyone, from budget and high street, to splashing out designer, petite, tall, plus size, regular, I've seen beautiful options in every category so I thought why not share them with you guys in case you haven't seen them yet! Or at least to give you some inspiration if you're currently Winter coat shopping and haven't found the one yet.
